仏教セッションTalk session on Buddhism

13日に横須賀の独園寺さんで、ベースのみなさんとの仏教セッションが開催されました。
Nov13,Talk session event took place at Dokuonji temple in Yokosuka. The group of American ladies living in the naval base gatherd there.

独園寺さんは、建長寺の外国人坐禅会の主幹スタッフである藤尾さんのおてらです。
Fujio san is in charge of the sub priest of Dokuonji temple, also main staff of Zazen in Kenchoji.

藤尾さんの司会のもと、アメリカの方々が日ごろ抱いている仏教への質問やキリスト教との比較などについて、意見をかわします。
Host Fujio san leads our talk session on F&Q and Buddhism's basic ideas in contrast to those of Christianity.

参加したのは浄土宗のサカイさん、臨済宗の綾部さんです。綾部さんも外国人坐禅会のスタッフです。そしてわたし。
Sakai san belongs to Jodo school.Ayabe san Belongs to our Rinzai school,also one of our staff of Zazen in Kenchoji.

午前は、キリスト教の十戒にあたる五戒について語ります。
We discussed the 5 Precepts(similar to the 10 commandments in Christianity) and the Noble Eightfold path in the morning.

お昼は建長寺汁と大根菜めしとひじきです。僧堂の精進料理を味わっていただきました。
We served Kenchinjiru soup,Daikon nameshi(Japanese radish rice) and Hijiki(simmered dish of brown algae),enjoyed the taste in Zen monestry.
建長汁は綾部さん。大根菜めしとひじきは私が作りました。
Ayabe cooked Kenchinjiru soup,I did Daikon nameshi(Japanese radish rice) and Hijiki(simmered dish of brown algae).

お昼の後もセッションが続きます。八正道です。
Restarted！Continued to discussed the Noble Eightfold Path.

なかなか準備がありましたが、アメリカのみなさんは、いろんな考えがキリスト教からの比較からくるのがわかった一日でした。
It was very challenging for me to preparation for the event. I have realized their　way of thinking based on Christianity!
